In 1978, Tissot created a quartz model that featured a slim case, slim indexes, and a steel bracelet. Its wide, horizontal lugs, typical of the time, were perfectly integrated into the flat, tonneau-shaped case. A few years later, Tissot registered the name PRX. "PR" stands for "precise" and "robust". The "X" stands for the Roman number ten and for the pressure of 10 bar, which corresponds to a depth of 100 meters, to which the watch remained water-resistant. In 2021, Tissot will present the PRX 40 205, with the numbers citing the product number that the watch had at the time. It is a modern interpretation of the previous model. The 316L stainless steel case of the Tissot PRX 40 205 has a diameter of 40 mm. It has a slight tonneau shape and is adorned with a narrow, round bezel. Vertically brushed, rounded finishes alternate with polished facets on the sides. The Tissot PRX 40 205 Powermatic 80 features a honeycomb dial with nickel-plated indexes and hands. There is also a variant with rose gold-colored indices and hands - a color combination that is also reminiscent of the late 1970s. The lines of the case extend directly into the bracelet, without the use of the traditional lugs. Its most striking feature is its row of large limbs that take up the entire width. Its flexibility and suppleness make it a real success in ergonomic design and provide exceptional comfort. The satin finish on the outside is just as carefully executed as the polishing of the inner surfaces. The hands of the PRX 40 205 have a SuperLumiNova® coating and are superimposed very closely. This allows the dial to be brought closer to the watch glass. The optical effect achieved by the Tissot designers makes the case of the watch appear even flatter and slimmer than it actually is. The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 has a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a mineral glass display back. This version features a black dial with indexes and a 316L stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp with push-buttons.
